This past fall one of our adventures took us to Australia. We met several people on hiking trips  in the past and managed to keep in touch with them over the years. We decided to reconnect , and this led to us spending time on Lady Elliott Island at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Sydney. We were fortunate in several respects, good weather , friends in several major cities, and the time to do it. Friends met us at Brisbane airport  and took us in for over a week. While based there, we were encouraged to hop a short  flight to Lady Elliott Island. It is a snorkel paradise, with a bird and turtle sanctuary encompassed  on a tiny island that offers accommodation, food, and lots of relaxation. Snorkeling brought us up close to rays, sea turtles, and a few sharks. The coral, although not  as dramatic as in yrs past, was still inviting and provided hours of relaxed cruising in the temperate  waters. Back in Brisbane we toured the ci...

President’s Letter New Year 2026

Happy New Year   We could all say “I can’t believe it’s January’ again, but it happens every year.  No surprise.  The weather is drier and warmer than usual. We look forward to working  on events and rides in the new year.  Dues are due, and two events stand out.   We are currently working out details for a ride in the Blue River area in July.  We plan 3 days of riding based out of Harbick’s and a Banquet at Takoda’s.    John Day in September will...

Holiday Hangout

Image
Every year the club gets together for a nice holiday hangout over lunch and treats to visit and celebrate motorcycles and the holiday season. This year the gathering was at our Vice President Tim’s fantastic shop/museum, “Cottage Grove Classic Cycles”.  A nice group of us hung out with lots of catching up, and moto chitchat powered by a stack of pizza. Sharing new and old project ideas, tech info, and fun stories is what it’s all about!!  Plus hanging around an amazing collection of antique motos is always welcomed. A fantastic time was had by all.  Happy Holidays to Everyone from The AMCA - Oregon Trail Chapter 🎅
