Kelly’s Olympian OTC Luncheon

Image
October’s event was lunch at Kelly’s Olympian in downtown Portland. A few of us got together for food and chitchat. John, Terry, myself, Chelsea, Nils, Tom and Jen made the date and due to blustery winds and rain we all arrived via 4-wheels or city train. Needless to say there was no ride after lunch, but we did enjoy catching up with each other and sharing some laughs as we head into the PNW soggy season. Good times!! your pal, -Pod-

Happy October We’ve had quite a few activities this year so far, with the highlight being our national Trees to Seas road run in Cottage Grove. We had over 100 riders registered, and a recent survey verified it was resounding success. We had riders from all over the country, both coasts and as far away as the Carolinas. In addition, we’ve had a few events with other groups like the OVM and Tenino swap. We’ve squeezed in a couple of rides in Bend and John Day, and Tim was in the coast to coast Motorcycle Trans Am. We try to put together events every month, around the state, so everyone can participate. As always, we encourage you to chime in if you have an event or a ride suggestion. In the past, we’ve also done garage crawls, and that relies on you, our various members, to host some of those. When we publish our newsletter, we are always looking for stories and articles about our own members. We enjoy reading about the processes and the trials and tribulations of your restorations, rid...

Looking for and sharing information.

One of the many reasons why being a member of an antique or vintage motorcycle club (such as Oregon Vintage Motorcyclists, AMCA, VME, Norton Owners Club, etc.) is having a plethora of knowledgable members/friends who are there for you for numerous invaluable reasons such as a fun moto ride, garage hang, and for helping with our antique/vintage moto projects. In this case, neat friend Mighty Mike from “The Mighty Garage” https://youtube.com/@themightygarage?si=MyTD_eisa2jOuqUa recently contacted me about information on an interesting looking old moto fuel tank. Well with my knowledge that is limited to old Triumphs and Harley-Davidsons and Mikes extensive knowledge in British bikes we were both seemingly stumped. 🤔 Now we both wanted to know! Well, turns out that with more digging with other friends the mystery tank has been identified!! It is in deed from a Marman Motorcycle (or motorized bicycle)!! Never in a million years would I have ever guessed or heard of a Marman!!! Turns out t...

Post Ride Report: JohnDay, Oregon

Image
Hi all I wanted to give a brief rundown of our recent ride to John Day. We have been doing this ride for 4-5 yrs. Mid-September seems to be a great time to explore the scenery this area has to offer. Situated on highway 26 about 120 miles east of Redmond/Bend, there are numerous two lane blacktop roads that allow you to explore old logging, railroad, and gold mining towns. The area is sparsely populated, so there is very little traffic, but there are gas stations and a few places to eat along the way on the various routes we have taken. Our typical agenda is to arrive in the afternoon (Monday or Tuesday) have dinner. After breakfast the next morning, ride a loop of choice, consisting of 100-200 miles ending up back at a hotel in the middle of town. The breakfast and dinner restaurants are within walking distance. The fairgrounds in town has camping spots. This is repeated for two more days as desired. Our first day we headed to Prairie City for gas, to Sumpter to explore the old gold m...
