Recon Mission

Putting together our annual Roadrun always requires a bit of work to make it happen smoothly.  From planning, getting the word out, registration, and route scouting there is plenty to do. We are about 5 weeks away from this year’s “Blue River Roadrun” and we are in final stages, one of which is scouting the routes.  Chelsea and I chose to scout the first day ride, the “Quartzville Notional Backcountry Byway”.  We fueled up with In-N-Out burger and hit the road.  We took our time to fully enjoy and make notes of anything important. This route is very beautiful and remote with this stretch between gas stops at around 98 miles. Make sure to bring xtra fuel and/or a few cans on the chase truck just in case!!  This section is about 55miles (of the total 140 mi loop) and is slow moving at about 1 1/2 - 2hrs to casually ride. The backcountry road is paved with lots of twists and turns with pullouts for snack breaks. A few potholes here and there but nothing terrible....

President James Mt Bachelor Ride

Image
Well, the folks in central Oregon went and had a blast riding around the Mt Bachelor area. The ride was met with fantastic weather and riding conditions throughout the afternoon. A stop for lunch at the halfway point while sitting next to a peaceful lake is a treat to break up the breathtaking countryside ride!! Looks like everyone had a fantastic time!!! Unfortunately Chelsea and I weren’t able to make it to that side of the mountain, so, she and I embarked on a similar ride on our side of mountain range. We really wanted to be there, but this is the best we could do.  It’s all about the ride with your favorite pals and significant others!!  Hope everyone is enjoying this year’s riding!!
